Freeley completed multiple phases of demolition works for a specialist filtration manufacturer, enabling a multi-million-pound expansion at its Lancashire manufacturing facility.
Located in Barnoldswick, the site is home to Filtrox, an international specialist in the filtration of high-value liquids. The works were delivered over an 18-month period and carefully phased to allow the site to remain fully operational throughout.
The project commenced with asbestos removal, followed by the controlled demolition of a warehouse and a significant section of the existing factory. With a live plant operating nearby, the works required precise sequencing and protection measures, including the installation of scaffolding to safeguard operational filtration tanks and specialist equipment.
Following the successful delivery of the initial phases, Freeley was appointed to complete the third and final phase, which included the demolition of office accommodation and modular buildings. In tandem, Freeley also demolished a former NHS clinic adjacent to the site after it was acquired as part of Filtrox’s wider expansion plans.
All works were delivered under stringent management controls to ensure zero disruption to ongoing manufacturing operations. The project formed a key part of Filtrox’s investment strategy to significantly increase capacity and modernise the site with new multi-storey production, warehousing, office, and laboratory facilities
